Our much loved and ever popular 1940s weekend returns Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 July.
Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of wartime Britain as you wander through period-accurate shops, homes, and industrial workplaces, each telling its own story of life during the 1940s.
Whether you're a history buff, vintage enthusiast, or looking for a unique family day out, transport yourself back to an era of extraordinary resilience and community spirit.

The 1940s brought to life
Discover the sights, sounds and stories of the 1940s as our Museum is transformed into a celebration of one of the most defining eras of the last century.
Find yourself walking historic streets browsing shops, houses and industrial workplaces of the past as they are brought to life with reenactors representing everything from domestic life to the armed forces.
It’s the perfect setting for you to get into the blitz spirit. -

There’s plenty to do for all the family, with a packed programme of activities to get stuck into – from lively street entertainment and live music to costumed characters bringing the sights and sounds of the era to life.

- Enjoy live music from Lissie Allsopp and Joe James Thomas.
- Roll up your sleeves and join the Home Front effort by making your own sandbags outside the Workers' Institute.
- The Home Guard needs new recruits! Step up for marching drills outside Spring Hill Post Office.
- Learn how the Home Front tackled fires during air raids. Try your hand with a stirrup pump.
