Woodside Library – we need your books!
9th Jul 2024
We’re continuing our search for book donations for our new library. The donations will populate the shelves of the historic library which is currently being rebuilt at the Museum on our new 1940s-1960s high street.
We’re looking for both fiction and non-fiction books printed during the 1960s or earlier, of popular titles from the era as well as more historic titles. As well as a collection of titles for adults, the library also had a children’s library, with popular children’s favourites including Paddington, Just William, Heidi and Thomas the Tank Engine.
In our first call out we had great success with collecting dictionaries, encyclopaedias, bibles, and older fiction (such as Dickens). We’re now focusing on more non-fiction titles and children’s books printed pre-1963 (or older titles reprinted in the early 1960s). We’re also interested in copies of Mills & Boon catalogue!
If you think you have books that would be suitable, we’d love to hear from you. We are holding a pre-bookable drop in day on Saturday 17 August from 10am-3pm. We’re very grateful for your donations.

About Woodside Library
Woodside Library opened at the end of the 19th Century on Stourbridge Road, Holly Hall. It was a popular library and community hub for local residents, and remained open until 2008. It was dismantled in 2021 and is now being rebuilt as part of the Museum’s 1940s-1960s high street.
