The free return ticket is called an UnChained Annual Pass. 

Whether you have purchased your ticket online or at the Museum, make sure that you hold onto it. On your first day out at the Museum, that ticket will automatically become your UnChained Annual Pass and you will be able to reuse it for 12 months of free return visits.

Throughout the year you can chat with our historic characters, pick up your favourite traditional sweet treats, go ‘into the thick’ in our famous coal mine experience, ride on a vintage bus, catch a short film in the Limelight Cinema, test your times tables in the Edwardian school, have a drink in one of our two pubs, and even enjoy some bostin’ fittle from our famous fish and chip shop.

The Museum also runs seasonal programming and daytime events, so you can enjoy seeing something new with your UnChained Annual Pass each visit. These include:

Frequently asked questions

Your admission ticket includes entry to all open exhibits within the Museum site, including the underground mine experience, as well as unlimited daytime visits to the Museum for 12 months. See our terms and conditions on this page for more details about our UnChained Annual Pass.

The Museum is located next to the Dudley Canal Trust, which runs boat trips through limestone caverns for an additional cost.

Car parking on our main car park is charged at £3.50 and is not included in the admission price.

On the date of your first visit to the Museum, we will automatically convert your general admission ticket(s) into an UnChained Annual Pass. The UnChained Annual Pass gives you 12 months of free and unlimited daytime return visits.

This offer is not applicable for those using vouchers (including Tesco vouchers). Please note that UnChained Annual Passes are issued for unlimited return for the original visiting party only, and proof of ID may be requested. Please see bookings terms and conditions for more information.

We recommend pre-booking so that visitors are able to choose their preferred dates and time of visit. 

We will release a limited number of walk-up tickets on a daily basis, but a greater number of tickets will be available online. To book your entry time, visit the ticketing page on our website and choose the free Return Entry option for UnChained Passholders. 

Please remember to pre-book an entry ticket for each person in your visiting party covered by your pass. You’ll need to present your valid UnChained Annual Pass alongside your timed entry ticket for scanning upon admission, so please bring along both documents.

The UnChained Annual Pass is only valid with full priced general admission tickets and is not valid in conjunction with any other offer.

If you choose to use a voucher or Tesco coupons, you will not receive the UnChained Annual Pass with your ticket.

UnChained Annual Passes are issued for unlimited return use, for the original visiting party only. It is not transferable.

The Museum reserves the right to request proof of purchase and/or identification upon entry to the Museum and to charge normal admission price to any visitors unable to prove that they are the original pass holders/visiting party. Normal admission prices will be charged and no refunds issued.

If you have an UnChained Annual Family Pass with two adults, you can request to add both adults as a named passholder, allowing you to attend with just one of the adults, if necessary. The allocation of pre-booked entry times enables us to manage queuing for admissions in an effective manner and to admit visitors into the Museum without unnecessary delay. 

If you are visiting with the intention of booking your ticket on the door, please note that you may be required to queue for a short amount of time before entering.

To help us, and other people who may wish to visit, we politely request that you let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make your time slot. Please remember that general admission tickets are non-transferrable and non-refundable.

Yes, as long as your UnChained Annual Pass is still valid (within 12 months from the original purchase date), you can use your pass for visiting the Museum on a Bank Holiday and during the school holidays, including half terms. 

The UnChained Annual Pass is valid for general admission only. Throughout the year, we have a programme of themed activities as part of our daytime general admission. These include half term activities, Marvellous Machines, 1940s Weekend (daytime only), and Festival of Black Country Vehicles.

Our evening events and special ticketed events, such as 1940s Evening, Peaky Blinders Nights and Santa Hunts, are not included as part of the UnChained Annual Pass free returns. To attend these events additional tickets will need to be purchased. 

You can still book a visit without your UnChained Annual Pass. If you have a receipt for your original purchase, please bring this along with your proof of ID as the named purchaser, along with your timed ticket when you visit.

The original ticket that you purchased will automatically become your UnChained Annual Pass. Please keep your original ticket and present this to our admission team on arrival to get your free return visits.

You will not receive/need an additional pass. 

Terms and conditions

Black Country Living Museum UnChained Annual Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable. Any UnChained Annual Pass being used fraudulently will be retained by the Museum and no refund issued.

UnChained Annual Pass cannot be purchased or used in conjunction with any other offer including Tesco Clubcard Days Out Vouchers.

UnChained Annual Pass will be issued to visitors purchasing full priced admission to the Museum online or on the door. 

UnChained Annual Pass are valid for 12 months from the date of your first visit. 

Visitors are advised to check the Museum’s opening dates and times prior to their intended visit date. 

UnChained Annual Pass are valid for unlimited return visits for 12 months from the date of issue* for the original visiting party only.  

Any additional visitors will be charged the normal admission price. 

Groups (educational or any group over 15 people) do not qualify for an UnChained Annual Pass and should contact the Ticketing Team on 0121 520 8054 to arrange their visit. 

UnChained Annual Passes are valid for the original visiting party only and Black Country Living Museum reserves the right to retain and revoke UnChained Annual Passes belonging to any visitors found or suspected to be transferring their UnChained Annual Pass.

We recommend that visitors book general admission to the Museum will be via a pre-booked timed entry ticket. Visitors can amend/cancel their timed entry ticket by calling our Ticketing Team on 0121 520 8054 or emailing [email protected]. Please note that while entry times can be amended, general admission tickets are non-refundable.

The UnChained Annual Pass is valid for general admission on the dates and times that the Museum is open to the public. Please see the Museum website for details of opening times and dates.

UnChained Annual Passes cannot be used for entry to special events, courses or towards school or group bookings.

UnChained Annual Passes must be produced on arrival on all return visits to gain free admission. Any visitors unable to produce their pass will be charged the normal admission price and this will not be refunded.

The Museum reserves the right to request proof of purchase and/or identification upon entry to the Museum and to charge normal admission price to any visitors unable to prove that they are the original passholders/visiting party. Normal admission prices will be charged and no refunds issued.

Any passes showing signs of damage or falsification will not be accepted; full admission will be charged and no refund issued.

Expired UnChained Annual Passes will not be accepted for free return admission and normal admission price will be charged and a new UnChained Annual Pass issued.

The Museum reserves the right to refuse admission.

 

All tickets purchased online via BCLM’s ticketing site are non-refundable and non-transferable. It is the responsibility of the Visitor to ensure that the correct number and type of tickets are purchased for admission to the Museum.

Online tickets purchased via BCLM’s ticketing site are allocated a unique barcode which will be scanned upon admission to the Museum. If the barcode on your ticket has already been scanned the barcode scanner will alert the Admissions Assistant and you will not be admitted.

Special event tickets purchased are only valid for the event and date stated and cannot be converted into an UnChained Annual Pass. Special events tickets cannot be purchased using an UnChained Annual Pass.  It is the responsibility of the Visitor to ensure that the correct special event tickets are purchased. Special event tickets are excluded from Gift Aid donations.  Event tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Refunds will only be issued should the Museum cancel an event. 

The Museum is not liable for visitors’ accommodation and travel costs and will not reimburse such costs should an event be cancelled, or the Museum need to close to visitors, due to circumstances beyond its control.  This includes, but is not limited to, Government restrictions due to Covid-19 or adverse weather.

Tickets are valid for admission on the dates and times that the Museum is open to the public. Visitors are advised to check the Museum website for details of opening dates and times prior to purchasing.  Online tickets are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and therefore, no refunds will be made.

Black Country Living Museum tickets are not valid for admission to Dudley Canal Trust.

All tickets purchased are valid for admission to the Museum only, additional charges apply.

Any young person (aged 15 or under) must be accompanied by an adult aged 16+.

Vouchers/coupons, including National Rail 2 for 1 vouchers and National Express 25% off vouchers, cannot be used on bank holidays or for pre-booked events.

Visitors purchasing Concession tickets (Seniors – 65+, Students and Unwaged) must bring evidence of their eligibility for presentation at the point of Admission. The Museum reserves the right to deny entry or charge the full standard admission fee to any Visitor unable to provide documentation upon request. Full-time students of any age are required to bring student photo identification with them.

Visitors are advised that dogs are not permitted onto the Museum site (with the exception of guide dogs, hearing dogs and support dogs) and that smoking is strictly prohibited throughout.

The Museum is licensed to serve and sell alcohol on its premises to any visitor aged 18+. Proof of age photo ID may be requested and sale refused to any Visitor unable to provide a satisfactory form of ID. The Museum respectfully asks Visitors to drink responsibly during their visit and reserves the right to refuse sale of alcohol to any Visitor deemed to be intoxicated. In such instances Visitors may also be asked to leave the Museum premises and no refund will be issued. Visitors are not permitted to consume alcohol on site that has not been purchased from the Museum.

The Museum reserves the right to refuse admission to the Museum or ask Visitors to leave without prior notification should their behaviour be deemed to be anti-social or offensive to Staff or other Visitors. In these instances refunds will not be issued.
